Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have a desire to be holistically healthy but you don’t know how or where to start? Do you have a hard time focusing and being able to prioritize what you should do? Is your day to day life so busy and full that you feel like you don’t have time to even think through what you should be doing or how you should do it? Or are you wanting to get holistically healthy but you don’t have much support? Do you feel alone? Maybe you want a cheerleader, encourager, and someone to give you a little advice and point you in the direction you should go. Or maybe you just want someone to walk this journey with you? If any of these sound like you; I think you’re in the right place.
If you have a very specific area of need like PTSD, an autoimmune disorder, a marriage crisis, considering a career change, a disability, etc; I would not feel comfortable saying I could help you for sure in those areas. Now having said that, I have read many books and still read all things related to holistic wellness so it’s very possible that I have read or will read something that would be about your area of need. If that happens I would gladly share that with you. I would be very up-front in telling you if there’s something I can’t help you with.
I am a great active listener.
Not only will I be taking in everything you say, but I will continue to think about our conversations after we’re done talking.
Especially when it comes to problem-solving, I just keep thinking about it to make sure I’m understanding everything and haven’t missed anything. I will do my very best to understand you, your situation, and what motivates you.
I think I’m also good at being able to see the big picture; like an overview of someone’s life. But then as we talk about goals and what you want to see change in your life; I think I’m good at being able to spot the obstacles and things that are getting in the way of your goals.
I don’t believe there’s a one-size-fits-all to holistic wellness. Each person is different. Not only are our personalities different but our bodies, preferences, motivations, lifestyles, life stages, backgrounds, strengths, weaknesses, etc. What works for me possibly won’t work for you.
I always see potential in people and I’m always optimistic about the future.
I’m also strong in time-management and prioritizing.
Lastly, I’ve been living this out in my own life. I’ve been putting in the work and effort in my own life to be holistically well so I know the commitment it takes but I also know how rewarding it is. I want to be able to share that with others.
Yes!
I need you to be honest with me about everything that’s going on in your life. If you are leaving out large parts that are maybe causing you stress, I won’t adequately be able to address things with you if I don’t have all the information.
I need feedback from you. As we move forward, I’d like to know from you what is helping and what isn’t. You won’t hurt my feelings. The more feedback I get the more I can adapt to do more of what helps you most and less of what isn’t helpful.
I need for you to be at a place in your life where you are ready and willing to change. I’m guessing if you’re looking for a coach that you may be at this place. Some of it may be changing your thinking. A lot of it will probably be changes of behavior. Keep in mind that together we’ll find the best changes for you though. You won’t be making changes that I demand you to make. We’ll be deciding together. After living with that change for a while, if something isn’t working, we’ll tweek it. We’ll make sure that the changes are working for you.
No. If you buy a package deal for coaching, I will ask you during our first conversation what goals you have for yourself; what’s working in your life and what isn’t. Then, based on the conversation we have, we’ll decide on a different goal each week for you to work on during that week. The goal-setting will be based on what you share with me that you want to change. If you’re not sure what needs to change, I feel pretty confident that I would be able to offer a goal suggestion based on our conversation.
Whatever goal we’ve set for you that week, I’ll check in with you to see how that is going. With accountability, you’ll have to let me know also how much of this you want. At the very least, I will ask you about your goal the next time we talk next week but if you want me to check in with you daily, I will. Or even if you need me to check in with you every night at 7pm because that’s when you start drinking wine and you need to be reminded to stop. I can do that for you! Along with that, I can also send you any information I come across that week that has to do with your goal. For instance if your goal is to get 8 hrs of sleep every night, I can send you articles that week on how to set yourself up for getting good sleep. Or if your goal is to bring healthy lunches to work, I can send you recipes for easy, packable lunches. I have so much information on so many things but I also don’t want to overwhelm you more so you’ll have to let me know how much information you want, if any.
Keep in mind that it takes the average person 66 days to change a habit. It’s important to consider where you are starting. Do you feel like you need a complete overhaul of your life because nothing is working well for you? Or do you feel like most things are working well but maybe you have just one or two areas that you need help in? Are you normally self-motivated and once you know what you’re doing, you can manage on your own? Or do you like to have someone with you every step of the way?
No problem. Contact me as soon as you know you can’t make the appointment. Then I’ll reschedule for you.
